Hi guys, I just got a new sounder and wanted a little advice. I have noticed crews posting screen shots. How is this done?
is the LSS2 worth getting or do you think the def. on it is sufficient?
i got the wifi set up thinking I could control unit from phone etc. I can't do that, am I doing something wrong?

Easy on the Lowrance HDS Touch series
You just press the pages and power buttons together and voila. I have my images saved to a second SD card and then download them to the laptop from the card. Different units do it differently so depends what head unit you have.
I haven't used the structure scan too much yet as I've been spending time on getting the best result out of the sounder first.
With the wifi unit I believe you can only control it from an ipad (and only then the touch series), and from an iphone its view only. From there you could also do a screenshot on your phone I suspect??
Cheers.

hadn't thought of that
the iphone or tablet would be the easiest place for the screen shot, thank you. The Simrad NSS8 only has one card slot, a micro SD. It is a touch screen MFD
I like the idea of saving images on another, very cool.
Do you know if there is a way to add more icons or use the screen shot image as the icon?

Broady.What size memory SD
Broady.
What size memory SD card do you use in your HDS??? Do you save your mapping images to create your own sonar maps.If so how much sonar time fits on the SD card you use.
I have a new HDS9 I havent used yet.I do have a 16GB SD card for it,just wondering how many spares I need to buy.
Thanks
Andrew

I only have a 4GB card in the
I only have a 4GB card in the spare slot and use it to store backup waypoints, settings, and screenshots. It was a spare I had lying around at the time and it is very empty.
A typical screenshot is only 400kb so I could do plenty of those.
I haven't yet created any sonar maps so not sure what space they'll take up, nor have I created any sonar logs so sorry but can't help with that question. I do know you can change the bytes per sounding that are stored for sonar data which looking at the unit tonight range between 1200 and 3200, and at the highest resolution the unit is telling me I've got 3 days, 8 hrs of recording time left.
I also have the HDS12 and the higher screen resolution would mean larger file sizes, as such I suspect 16GB would be plenty.
Cheers.
