NT Goose Trip
Had my first crack at goose hunting early in December.
Took a few days LSL and headed up to Darwin where I met a few blokes off a hunting forum I frequent. Had a blast literally, got a few geese and a couple of ducks, missed plenty more and got well and truly hooked on it.
Season is unfortunately finished now but I'm already looking forward to Sept when it all kicks off again. Pretty easy to do with the shooting done on one of four hunting reserves set aside by the NT Govt, all within an hours drive of Darwin. Season permit costs about $20.
Geese were taken with bbb's and the ducks with no 2's (both in steel shot). The breasts of the goose taste great done as schnitzels.

Good work there John. Bit of a fan of the gamier meat so I reckon those schnitels would have been awesome. Looks like a nice spot too. Are you allowed to shoot the buffalo up there? Now that stuff tastes really good :-)
Cheers

Buff
No joy on the buff yet mullows, still on the to do list. Like WA, you need access to a property that has them.

My brother in law and sister
My brother in law and sister worked at Pt Stuart in the late 70's early 80's at the abbatoir. They brought home Buffalo ball bag stubbie holders and still have a set of Albino horns. The meat was alright, fairly lean.

Nice, never tried Buffalo ball sack before. Obviously not much fat on them.

That's excellent BJ. Did you take your own rifle up? Just wondering how you get it up there on the flight?

Drove over
Just drove over, only a days drive @ 830 km's.
You could do it from Perth on a plane, just need to organize your paperwork with the carrier.
