occy for bait

Hi guys.
have been trying occy for bait lately, but have found that once has been in the water a for a few drosp it turns into this big glob of really sticky mess and is super annoying. Any way to prevent this? just buying form local tackle shop.
thanks in advance!

 hi mate ,

youve got to skin it , get all the brown skin off with a sharp bait knife (you can leave a few suckers on ) then it stays perfect and gets eaten more easily too.

yep you can skin the frozen stuff easily with a sharp bait knife , even if you skin just 2 sides it makes it much more attractive as bait for demersals rather than brown snot.

i prefer the boxes of californian squid (2.27kg) boxes use them whole on snelled rigs for demersals , they love em and fillets of fresh baker/wrasse/sweep etc work well too .

Seems to work much better than unsealed......but west King wrasse are brilliant bait , the smaller the better
