Hi all,
ive been looking for a jigging outfit and have come across these two reels, the okuma Salina III and the shimano stradic in the 5000 size. Both are in my budget and on the surface appear to meet my needs.
I want to use it for
jigging - pe 1-3
bottom bouncing
spinning
in your experience/opinion how do they compare?
thanks

Wish I could help with the direct comparison mate, but I can tell you that I have a Stradic 5000fj and its so good that I recently bought a second for my other outfit! Smooth, tough and very compact but can take heaps of braid to cater for the big fish that like to run hard.
I use them both on PE 2-3 daiwa demon blood rods and just feel....right.
happy shopping!

doesn't appear to be too much information out there on the okuma reels. Kinda makes me think they aren't worth the effort and to just go with the Stradic FJ, hardly hear a bad word about them.

If you can part with a little extra coin, do yourself a favour and upgrade to a rarenium. Sweet reel. However if you want to save a bit, I have a 5k FJ stradic in top condition that I would be happy to let go. I have a 5k rarenium and a 5k sustain so the stradic has barely ever been used. PM if interested.

The stradic 5000FJ is the reel you want. I work in a fishing shop and we have had a fair share of those Salinas come back with problems regarding the drag and anti-reverse.
The Stradic 5000FJ is also the best choice for lures and using braid.
Cheers!
