hey guys, wondering if there's anyone who has come across instances where they've found models of things you buy or use that have worsen since the previous earlier model and why.
For example, penn ss to the newer ssm, the gearing and shaft isnt as durable or as strong as previous.. Anything like that.
Thought it would be a good way for guys to find out some things to look at when purchasing something new, or maybe something old.
Is there anything out there that hasnt gotten better and superiority is handed to older models?
Cheers fishos!

I prefer SSM over the old SS. SSM has better handle and better drag, runs a lot smoother too.

The SSM's also lay line a lot better.
The problem is with the new ones is they do not last nearly as long (made in china as opposed to USA)
That is because of the gearing etc.
But I have found the SSM's are alot nicer to use and braid friendly.
