Out with Colin Hay and Sherbs

Met Colin and Steve at the ramp 6:00 I was surprised only one other boat was there. We headed out in the dark looking carefully for the craypots, First spot and nothing to report

,so up with the lines and out a little deeper ,by now the wind was at 15knot which made working the patches a little hard ,so we did a drift while the wind dropped .Colin opened with a nice baldie

Then I got a couple of dhuies was pretty happy got one on 9kg line 4kg rod. I guess around 8kg

Colin then got a nice PB dhuie well done Colin

Then Sherbs got a nice shark

the wind started to drop so time to hit some patches ,Sherbs was on and from the looks a good fish BUGGER ,sambo but a good fight all the same

Jesse still running on empty with only one baldy, still was a good one. well time fly’s and we were on the way home Jesse at the wheel

The day finished with 8x dhuies 5 released
5 x black ass all released
5 x baldies one released
1 x shark released
1 x sambo released
1 x flathead and a mix of reef fish, thanks guys for a great day hope you had a good time ..

Great report as usual Paul. Sounds like the weather was better up your way in the morning than down SOR.

Well done Colin on the PB Dhu fish as well.

Nice Sambo Sherbs. Would have got the blood going.

Many, many thanks Paul and Jesse.
Sherbs and I had a terrific day.
A couple of real highlights was Paul's great Dhuie on light gear.
Sherbs proving himself to be the double header master, scoring a double header of Dhuies and another double of Baldchins. He also pulled in a great flathead, a nice sized bronze whaler and a Sambo of about 10 kgs.
Jesse showed that he could still pull a big fish by landing the biggest baldchin of the day.
I had a great day thanks to some tips from Paul and was stoked to land my biggest Dhuie to date

Thanks Paul, Jesse and Sherbs for a great day.

Good work getting a dhuie

Mon, 2009-03-09 15:34

Good work getting a dhuie this time Colin. Seemed that last trip it was everything but.

What combo were you using for the dhuie Paul? Looked like the rod was a little undermatched to the line :p

Certainly very fun getting them on 20lb, and much nicer to use nice light gear all day
