Out wide unexpected....
Left Safety Bay at sparrows with a pleasant NE and a plan to come home on the forecast seabreeze.
Stopped at SW Bank and picked up a nice Pink and a Queenie, but nothing else after trying a few of my old haunts.
Weather still good so kept heading west, dropping every now and then at promising looking flares on the sounder but
nothing significant.....
The Noreaster was dropping so thought I'd spend a bit of time looking around for new spots before heading home on the Souwester..
Mostly flat ground but then a 1metre ledge popped up with the Furuno going off all around...worth a drop..
Within 30 seconds of hitting the bottom felt a couple of good bites then nothing , but line slowly pulling off against the drag...
Initial thought was a snag but a few thumping tugs and half a dozen cranks to get off the bottom had me thinking...
As more line peeled off slowly. I tightened the drag to max, imagining a shark casually swimming away with all my braid...
10 minutes later I was getting my line back and thinking when it's near the boat I'll cut him free...
Got a bit of colour and by the size of it , changed my call to a stingray...Shortly after up pops the Dhuie !!!
Spooked a few seabirds with hoots as I pulled him thru' the backdoor....
There was no wind by now so had a comfortable 90 min trip home with a very satisfied grin all the way !!!
