Overnighter at Rottnest

Hi all,

My father and I are looking at doing an overnighter at Roto staying in one of the jetty pens and I was just wondering, what equipment will we require for mooring to the jetty?

Regards

Ben

A bucket full of $$ lotsa luck to get a pen (In high demand)and a rope or 2

Rotnest is expensive for no good reason other than some fat cat burocrats sustainability.

No decent hotels, no decent restaurants, no decent nothing, just the natural beauty of the island.

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

Had a look at the bookings there are still a few available for mid next week, I was mostly wondering if we needed fender buoys or anything special.

We've either moored in the beach pens or on a swing mooring.

You need to supply all your own ropes, shouldn't need fenders if its done right. just look at how the other boats are doing it. you'll need two bow lines, two stern lines and probably go for two forward springs if your driving bow first into the pen to stop forward movement into the jetty. Also, have enough sag in your lines for tidal movement. Just have a look at how the others are doing it.

If you have a small tender its so much easier with a swing mooring, just a pain of having a small drive or row. first time for us on a beach pen near bathurst i had to shoo off three drunk blokes in the middle of the night who wanted to drink piss on the boat thinking it was unattended, scared the crap outta the mrs and that was the last time for her, now I'm only allowed a swing mooring....

if your boats not too big go

if your boats not too big go for a beach mooring if you cant get a mooring this late

there you need two anchors, one for the sea side and one to bury in the sand, then you good for the night

We have beached moored our Berty 25 with ease and Rod beach moors his big 30 footer as well.

always have extra rope and fenders, a bucket and some garbage bags ( good for wadding ashore and keeping stuff dry)

otherwise just treat it like camping on water lol, no diffs to a campsite in that way

watch the food prices in the town, scout around and you can eat well and cheap.

Oh and a 10 to 20litre container for fresh water is always welcome.

thats how we rough if lol
