overnighting on the boat

 Hi all

Im going to do my first overnighter on the boat next week any advise or things not to forget to pack.

We going to head to rotto so no major drama if we forget something but just want to be as preparred as i can. Will be 2 of us on the boat and we will be sleeping on it.

Where would you recomend on anchoring for the night a mooring or the beach i am aware of paying fees and all that stuff. Its a 7.5m boat

Whats the food like at the pub im thinking of having a feed there.

Cheers

Rod

 Watch the tides if beach

Watch the tides if beach mooring, dig your anchors in deep. As mentioned, ear plugs. Plenty of good food at the pub. Great way to spend a weekend, enjoy!

Take less, not more. Clutter

Take less, not more. Clutter on the boat is a pain.

Make sure you have a good mattress....and don't expect much sleep, but it is great fun!

Take your own grub

Sat, 2015-03-14 10:45

Took the boat over to Rotto for a fish on thursday ( no fish typical me style...:) . Hit up the pub with a mate. two steak sammies ( shithouse ) and two pints o beer $73.... A box o beer n some nice porterhouse steak with buns n martie sauce less than that... Have a cookout on the tub..... Satisfaction level will be a lot higher if you do it yourself... However there will be boobs at the bar...... Compare the pair!

free beach moorings in front

free beach moorings in front of pub, take plenty of rope, free bbq right there, free hot showers also right there.

5 minute walk to bakery.

 First in first served basis.

First in first served basis.  take your chances....  beach mooring at north thompson can be booked and paid $38 per night.  need a long rope for a stern line.

guarantee yourself a spot. :)

I agree with what was said about taking your own food.  pub is expensive.  plenty of bbq right on the beach. :)

 If they haven't changed

Sat, 2015-03-14 17:08

If they haven't changed recently, you put your anchor down and reverse into the beach.  The moorings are on the beach and you use one of your own (long) mooring rope to pull your stern into the shallows.

Hi mate

Sun, 2015-03-15 10:18

I just did my first trip Weds through Friday. I'm in Singleton so just drove to Point Peron and played along the ground to Rotto taking our time and going for Demersals. There's some hectic looking ground along there that breaks up the trip.

Moorings.

Sat, 2015-03-14 12:12

You can anchor in most bays for free on the sand patches (still have to pay visitors fees), just need to check overnight and morning wind/weather conditions for the best spot, second anchor and spare rope could be handy. If your not confident on anchoring overnight, grab a mooring for peice of mind. Esky full of drinks, snacks, snorkel gear, kyacks and maybe a couple of deck chairs.
