Owner split ring pliers.

Purchased a pair of owner gp20 split ring pliers a few months ago. Was assured they were quality and stainless. I dont mind paying for top quality. Well trust me these aint stainless steel. After five trips out in the boat and a few reef flat walks and being washed and spray with inox in between sees them just about binnable. Will be buying a pair of cheapys again. Last shimano ones lasted 15 years and were still shiny when they eventually broke. Any recommendations from anyone on some quality small split ring pliers that are stainless and will last?

Bugger that
be stuffed if I would put up with Owner split ringies rusting. Sent then an email and pics. I would be requesting a replacement on the basis that they not fit for purpose .

Contact who you brought them from pointing out the problem (you must do this before contacting consumer affairs)and asking them for replacement or refund. Do this in writing.
If response is negative supply copies of your correspondence and their reply to consumer affairs (CA) and ask them for assistance.
It won't happen over night (just like the hair add says) but it will happen.
The unfortunate thing IMO is that the retailer is held responsible not the manufacture, the retailer sold it to you and the responsibility rests with him.
I have had a few complaints handled by CA and they have all be resolved to my satisfaction, give them a go.

They do rust - but the GP40
They do rust - but the GP40 are still my favourite pliers for big rings. First trip I did with mine in 2010 (week at Montes) they rusted up so bad after the trip that they barely opened.
Heavy dousing with inox - working it into them by opening and closing - they came good as new aside from a bit of surface discolouration. Over 5 years later and 200+ days on the water with them and they are still going strong and corrosion no worse than after that first trip. You need to INOX them before first use and then again every 5-7 trips which is a pain, but they are mint pliers.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
