Pembertom Tips Please????

Hi All,

I've been thinking about going down to Pemberton to do a spot of fishing and catch up with the rellies; but been a total salty when it comes to fishing, i would have no idea where to start.

I was wondering if anyone has tips on

Times of year?

Times of day?

What bait?

What lures?

Spots worth trying around Pemberton?

Cheers

Sloth, I haven't been down that way for awhile

But the river that ran out of the trout hatchery was always supposed to be as good a spot as any to find a trout.

The general open trout season starts on 1 September and ends on 30 April. However the Blackwood, Donnelly and Warren Rivers are open all year round.

I think you will need a freshwater licence.

Hey mate went down laat w.e, got 4 wild rainbows in a lil stream on laser pros and rapalas in brown trout pattern, also got one on spinners. The lefroy which runs past the trout hatchery has a lil flow in it at the mo but didnt fish it, thats where id be starting out unless you have some local knowledge. Dont forget ya freshwater licsense.

Pembo!

Times of year? * Between now and the first big rains!

Times of day? * Morning and arvo in particular

What bait? I dont use bait but the Berkley Gulp 2'' Sandworms work as a sub!

What lures? * Spinner blades like Mepps & Jensens in size #2.

*Minnow lures like Maria Fake baits floating & sinking, Maria Flying divers, Komachi, Halco Laser pro 45,RMG Scorpion 35, R2sea Fingerling Shad and Rapala minnow!

Spots worth trying around Pemberton? * Big Brook, around the edges & the Wall. Go to the Warren (small drive out from town) and go to the Heartbreak trail area and all the carpark access areas are worth a fish. Redfin perch & trout!

The Pembo Pub is a great spot to get a good feed also!

benny bopster

has been a great spot for me over the years. Go down the road towards 'The Cascades' but contiue on till a little bridge over the Lefroy. You will spot fish all the way downstream to the Warren (few hundred metres)

If you have a 4x4 there is always the beach at the mouth of the Warren river,Windy harbour or Jasper beach back towards Nannup

Cascades

I agree with Boppo. The Warren fishes very well and particularly from that joining of rivers.

The Cascades is a great spot. I used to drive down and sleep under the CALM hut. Wake up very early and quietly walk upstream in the mist. I used to carry a telescopic roc with a minow lure tied. I had some great times.

In the quieter parts of the day I used to sit on the old bridge just back from the King Brown trout farm and use worms and a float. Beer was always a go while waiting for some action. I have never come away from there without some decent Trout.

Cheers, Vince
