Hey Jamie, are they actually making any boats with them? Or do they just lay around? Would it be a big drama if you went to them and asked them to make you a boat? Just curious as to what's involved.

They might need some
They might need some encouragement to break them out, not a lot of fg boat building done here in WA.
Not that there is anything particularly wrong with the Penguins, but they're probably not that up to date, so if you got one, it would need some custom work done on it.
Some of the spearos own a similar 18 or 21 IIRC.

Probably more of a nostalgia
Probably more of a nostalgia thing for me. I remember growing up seeing that boat stuck on the roof in Cannington.

My boat came from Blackbeard’s back in the day. I can picture the boat on the roof, just can’t visualise where at the intersection.
Growing up in Queens Park, we went past it a bit.

Yeah gidday all,
The previous people are true and correct, I have the mould for the Penguin Huntriss 18'6 and the Phantom 16'6.
My heart wasn't in it any more so I got out of the industry...sort of !

his name is shane, and he dont really run anymore.
will do a mould if ya wana spend the bucks, but to be honest you would get a better, later modle, more modern boat than this option.
last i heard, shane closed his shop in maddington and took the moulds bush with him, out to his property.

There was a fella down the end of Malcolm rd for a while doing all types of glass work as well. Went down with the GFC. I worked in the Maddington area for about 25 years before moving over to Welshpool.

Thanks Again Guys, reason i was looking was that i would like to build a boat with simular trates as a cray boat (longer back deck )but you cant seem to get them .Penguin has the right shape just put a longer back deck on it.I know they handle well because i have come back from Rotto in a storm with 40 kt winds and it went realy well and that was in a 5 mtr one.All I'am trying to do is super size one ,the cray boats (older ones ) are almost the same.20-25 Ft would be good.

Yep 32 and beyond
I was thinking of painting it yellow....
I did see a 34 footer for sale a while ago.
You are right, she is a bit thirsty (See my post in the fuel consumption thread). Happily head out and back 25nm with a bit of searching around but not too much more than that at a nice cruise of around 15 knots. Had her up to 23 knots and luckily did not have fuel flow meters to look at.
I would be happily involved in a flock, brood, convoy, gaggle of Penguins to Rotto. Who knows could even get a Greeny escort to the island if we said a protected brood of penguins where heading to Rottnest.
I am not aware of any clubs though.
Cheers

I have a 19 foot Huntress up
I have a 19 foot Huntress up in Karratha with a 140HP Suzuki 4 stroke. She is an old girl but the great ride out weighs any lack of modern styling. I have just spent the past week end sanding the gelcoat followed by a polish then wax! I don't think I fancy a trip to Rotto though, not from Karratha anyway!

penguin/frontline Huntriss
Scubafish.
Im still having issues navigating this forum page.
Go too You Tube.... search in the youtube engine... How too build a Huntriss 186, and that should show you the condition of the hull. I recommend starting at Pt 1.
cheers dusty.
