And the greenies want to ban all hunting for free range meat because its 'cruel'.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Don,t know
I Don't know how im supposed to feel after watching that. I think i feel more sorry for the human race rather than the animals . I am so glad i never took that job as a chicken boner when i was young and got into a trade that didn't involve food . Those workers looked real happy packed in just like the produce they were processing.

I don't think that was the perspective that was intended.
Miserable, exploited animals with no choice vs the human race which is consciously shitting in its own nest ?
And at least those workers get to go home at the end of the day.

Well
Well without writing a 6 page papper about my perspective, my point was , i feel sorry for the human race because ( as you said ) we continue to shit in our own nest. We continue to consume every resource on the planet without thought of the future, we continue to populate even tho some countries are over flowing at the borders, and to be P/C the weight challenged people at the end of the clip sum up it up so well , we are greedy pig's .
And yes i feel for the animals too, i have worked in the poultry farming industry and let me just say, still don't eat much chicken from the things i saw in those masive sheds.
With all due respect i hope that clears up my perspective for you Dizzy .
Cheers Grant . .

Cool mate - sorry, I
Cool mate - sorry, I misunderstood your post after reading the comment about the workers.
Totally agree with you - the human race's locust mentality is going to bring some massive consequences.
You summed it up pretty well in 10 or so lines ;) :)

Pretty disturbing video to
Pretty disturbing video to say the least...the fact that the animals get stuffed in stalls all their natural lives to breed, lay eggs etc, well....its abysmal. Unfortunately society's demand for relatively cheap and accessible meat, eggs etc has lead to these practices.
Anyone seen Jamie Olivers Fowl Dinners? Now that is pretty intense.

Bit of a horror movie ..
Bit of a horror movie .. flicked thru it didn't want to watch the whole lot , even though I worked at Robbs Jetty many moons ago..prefer to be ignorant like most I assume , its just the way it is I guess since the dawn of time , except the mass farm processing has evolved to keep up with demand ...surprised they haven't developed a 3 legged chicken as yet , however I suppose they'd be harder to catch ..

Improvements over time
Did an apprenticeship as a slaughterman in the younger days and the practices that they do now are a great improvement on what was common practice back then when we would do most of it on the ground before hanging the body up to finish removing the hide and innards. Along came the chain systems where evrything is done while the body is hanging from a rail and nothing is allowed to touch the concrete and they are electrocuted instead of having their throats cut and neck broken.
Like any job once you are used to it, you just put your head down and concentrate on what you are doing and not at what the whole picture is in someone elses eyes who has only an inkling of how its done and the capacity to spread propaganda without all the facts.
I was impressed at the chicken catching machine, having tried in a half hearted way to help once and realised how hard it is to do it quickly by hand, feeling sorry for the blokes who still have to do it manually. The boning / packing room is no different from what has been operating at most meatworks for decaded only on a bigger scale and inside a massive coolroom.
Like most of us on the site, I love to go out and have a shoot, with the last trip out 2 weeks back with a mate where we knocked over 10 goats for the freezer and a couple of big billys amongst them for his dogs.
A bit of roast goat, roo, bush pig, emu, donkey or camel doesn't go too far in my house I can assure you.

love my steak, lamb, chicken etc
Think about pricing too, you got all those people working there, how many chickens do you need to sell to make it profitable?
Bit of a crazy world, could just imagine what the Chinese fishing industry must be like and how they process fish and what sort of quantity... Makes you think twice about the amount of hoo haa here that goes on over one shark 'allegedly' stabbed at a jetty without even the true story. Nothing like a good media beatup for the glory story.

Percentages
It all comes down to how high the recovery percentages are from each bird / animal / fish, on whether its profitable or not. With something on that scale 1/2 a percent could mean big dollars.

it material like this that
it material like this that makes me want to be self sufficient one day, but like most time is at a premium. i grow as much fruit and veg as possible as i simply do not trust these mass production practises designed to feed the masses. simply put there are too many people on this earth and something has to change. in the meantime i will eat fish from the ocean?
