Petrol
One can do without many of the items used in comparison but if you rely on your car to get to and from work, it becomes an essential item?
Like the bit about Evian Water! Bottle water is a real scam! Tests have been carried out and bottle water was found to be less pure than tap water.
The price of Petrol versus Printer Ink
All these examples do NOT imply that petrol is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are....
You will be really shocked by the last one!
(At least, I was...)
Compared with Petrol......
Think a gallon of petrol is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.
Diet Snapple 16 oz £1.29 .. £10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz £1.19 ...........£9.52 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz £1.25 ......... £10.00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz £3.15 ...... £33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz E8.35 ... £178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz £3.85 . £123.20 per gallon
Tippex 7 oz £1.39 ....... . £5.42 per gallon
And this is the REAL KICKER...
Evian water 9 oz £1.49..£21.19 per gallon! £21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source
(Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
You don't even want to compare it with perfume or after shave.
Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?
So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at................
(you won't believe it....but it is true........)
£5,200 a gal.. (five thousand two hundred pounds)
So, the next time you're at the pump,be glad your car doesn't run on water, or Tippex, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!
Just a little humour to help ease the pain of your next trip to the petrol pump...
And - If you don't pass this along to at least one person,
your exhaust will fall off!!
Okay, your exhaust won't really fall off....but you might run out of toilet paper

Well, when I go through 30
Well, when I go through 30 liters of coke a week i'll take more interest
(plus economies of scale, and the above are more complex :p)
Theres another comparison for the cost of printer ink. Its more expensive than a top year of dom perignon champagne
On bottled water, this is fairly entertaining:

(they should be similar with differnent length, but I dont have speakers to double check)

BP cards are a bit of a scam
BP cards are a bit of a scam though, sure you get 5% off, but only on the first $400 fuel a month, plus you have to pay extra for extra cards.

$2.05 here
We've been paying $2.05l here for diesel for a couple of weeks now. Drive bugger all though. Lucky to go through 50l a fortnight, and thats using my vehicle for work. In comparison when I had my landscaping business in Perth I was using at least 200l per week. Glad thats not the case now.

Car pooling
My wife works down in Albany and its around 50Ks each way from Mount Barker, so we go through somwhere between $200.00 - $250.00 per fortnight! (Kia Sorrento 3.5L to tow the boat).
We advertised, asking for people that wanted to car pool and, suprisingly, got no interest at all, and there's loads of people travelling between 'Barker and Albany.
Fortunately, and by chance, a lady on the other side of 'Barker advertised in the local Plantagenet News so Sandra's able to car pool. Now it's $40.00 per week. Big difference. Only problem at the moment is that the other lady is on school holidays as she is a teacher.
Show's the difference in attitude between City and Country ay?

BP Ultimate 98 for me
The only fuel I use is BP Ultimate 98 Occtane. Its the cleanest fuel on the market. What you pay for at the bowser will benifit you more milage from the tank. Its alot cleaner than the lower octane and results in better engine running and engine life.
