After some good fishing on friday a quiet one at home pickling some occos sounded good. Headed down to mangles for a shore based occy hunt and bagged twelve between two of us. Time to fire up the pressure cooker. Kids go crazy now about what comes home in the eski!

How do you entice them? I have used a rod with a squid jig and jig this in any likely looking hole, then move it out and wham with the gidgy. The other way I do it is to catch a hezza and spear that onto a second gidgy, and use this to entice them out and then wham.
Not many post on how to catch occies so just interested in other's methods to get them out off their holes. The wham bit is relatively simple IMO.
