Pics from a night under the Swan
A few pics from last weeks river dive. These were captured from the video that I was taking which might make an appearance soon. It was great fun shooting with the vid, but frustrating watching all these prawns ‘walk on by’.
Gully in action – in the video you will hear me pissing myself laughing at this effort. Was it caught or not...well Gully wasn’t sure (you had to be there!);
Gully slamming the net down on the prawn;
A controlled decent of the net from myself;
If you happen to think that one of your crabs tastes a bit like jelly (fish that is), this will be the one;
Me sneaking in from behind (well as you do with the girls);
“Your mine baby”...back to my place;
I took some notes on this position (don’t remember this one in the Karma sutra book);

Nice one Pete, great view for those who've never tried it before.
We ended up with 55 between 2 last night, spent a little too long too deep then had to leave them alone in the final stages once we finally found good numbers. Jamie knows where so just follow him!

Have seen plenty of crabs
Have seen plenty of crabs shagging before, but this position is a first - had to do a double take at first (thought it was a crab with four arms!).
This dive spot was near Blackwall reach. The other regular spot is just upstream around the corner. All dives that I do are on scuba as you are usually in 10-20 metres.
Vis is usually 2-8 metres (if ya torch can penetrate that far). Obviously worst with the bigger tides. With more rain the top few metres will be freezing and 2 inch of vis, when under the fresh layer it will clear up and warm up to a balmy 12-17.

To set the story straight I well and truly buggered that prawn capture up but wasnt too phased as it wasnt that big. Was all for the camera I tell you!!!
However by the end of the dive the old man Petes controlled technique was working a treat so have changed tact slightly now. This is my first year doing it and am improving and getting good numbers every time so look out Pete cos you are in danger of being out fished :P
As for the crabs - well I reakon they spend more time shagging than a pornstar

Not too cold yet Paul. Semi dry and a hood does a good job. Think Jamie said 14. I havn't checked the temp as I haven't really felt the cold yet. It is cold getting changed after a dive though.
1.5 kg for me last night a 3 big crabs. Jamie got 36 prawns and a big buck male.

On average throughout the dive my computer has it as 16 so would say it would be 14 easily in some parts.
Is only going to get colder which will sort the men from the boys :)

Last night the lowest I
Last night the lowest I clocked was 15, so a little warmer than last week. I managed about 3 dozen prawns and a 180mm wide crab. Next time I must take the catch bag, its a bugger holding a couple of crabs and the prawn net in the same hand.
