Were on big spring tides at the moment, probably half the reason why its so cloudy. Should come good again mid week. Heap of sharks on there at the moment, few 5-6 fters.

has anyone seen the
perch like fish that tends to hang around a lot there, Im thinking it may be a saddletail, not sure. Probably a bit more silver in it that a saddletail has (I could be wrong though) - Any thoughts

Does anyone know if this guy is still under the pier. Was there in 07 and 08.
Navy pier is one of my favourite dives. See something different every time you dive it. Dived it 8 times now and cant wait to do it again. If anyone is planning to dive it check tides as the current can be very strong at times, making it hard work with poor vis.

Tides
I noticed a few sharks hangin around but only when the tide was slack. As soon as it starts to move the barracuda & the trevaly move in & the sharks seem to disapear. Saw 2 nice sizes rankin cod movin around as well. Makes for a great screen saver but difficult to work. lol. Great idea. Rob

How come...
I've spent a few hours watching this now, and what I don't get is this: with all those different species just cruising around, I haven't yet seen anyone get eaten! Or even chased. Are all these fish just resting, or are they too well fed?

Different story at night. I
Different story at night. I have done a couple of night dives under the pier and the fish become a lot more active. Especially the sharks. Not a good idea to wear a torch on your head too because the fish start to target the light.

I would've called them for a Yellow-eyed Red Snapper, except they're out of their range and they also had that yellow fringe on each fin. I dug the one that seemed to be enthralled with the camera, and kept sneaking up from the right and checking itself out. Looked huge at that close range!
