So i go out to one of my secret spots yesterday and within 10 mins all these idiots turned up and pinged my spot. Listen Sheeple there is plenty of ocean out there and if you have to resort to hammering spawners maybe think about trading in the old cuddy cab and getting taking up beach fishing.

I went out last night a saw that, someone said there was 70 boats. I went elsewhere got nothing then had to listen to people at the boat ramp crapping on about there fish. When I asked where they got them they were all hush hush like that spot is secret. End of the day they had fish and I had zip.

Snapper season closure
What that pic suggests to me is that the closure date for the taking of the pink snapper in Cockburn Sound needs to be brought foward a month to 1 September each year.

Unless a lot of self restraint is shown by a large majority of these boats, then in a couple of years when the breading mass falls below the sustainable level and total closure is imposed on the Cockburn sound snapper fishing people will be running around screaming and shouting what has happened to "our snapper" in the sound.
Remember what happened at Shark Bay hmmm, there is an old saying that goes something along the lines of limit your catch you don't have to catch your limit.
I think your thoughts are 100% on the mark Allan, it's the same as the crabs at Mandurah, the season should only be opened after December when the crabs have had a chance to grow to a legal size.

The numbers of pink snapper have dropped right off in Shark Bay to the point that the pros have had restrictions put on where they can fish and have had their quotas cut by half
After seeing that many boats anchored on the one spot I can see the closure being brought forward in the near future

The restrictions were brought in by Fisheries and include no go areas around the top of Bernier and Koks islands, known as the Koks patch during the spawning season

you been in a barcrusher mate? ive had 6 ally boats between 5.6-8.2m and the crusher rides the best by so far its not funny , the only comparable ride to my 615 cc crusher was my 6mm plate 8.2metre jackman .

Some boats going out night after night catching their limit . 1 good size snapper would do me for a week with an excuse to get out there again the next week. Legalality is one thing but morality is another.

We enjoy a feed , same as anyone but deep down I think most know when there killing the pig ( OR PINKIE)
And in my opinion its definately counter productive to have a ban and snapper breeding programs and yet be taking spawning fish , but
thats up to each person to come to terms with.

Drove through them sounding schools and dropping baits on their heads, was great fun catching but what was even better was the looks i was getting from everyone else. Only lost one fish around an anchor rope too.

I went over there at -630 on Sunday...Was not keen on getting abused with my 9 year old daughter onboard, so took off for Carnac.
No Snapper, but a very nice gummy and 7 nice fat whiting. Home by 1030
Would'nt mind catching a snapper for dinner...just cant deal with the yelling or two-way swearing etc.
What time do I need to be there to beat the crowds to anchor? I travel from Palm Beach.
I can do mid-week ATM...
