point samson

hey guys heading up to point samson for a few months for work this week, just want to know the best areas to target some barra and jacks. i have fished there before a few years back mainly around the causeway but never caught any barra there, i nailed heaps of big queenies out at Jarman island

i also want to target some big GT's. We are towing my workmates 18ft polar bay boat up with us so we have access to creeks and islands. any info much appreciated

cheers Wade

Not too many blokes give away

Not too many blokes give away their barra spots.......

However, they will be in almost any creek, but not in huge numbers.  Trying to find the best spot in the creek is the hard bit, and trying to navigate the sandbars to enter a creek in  a large boat could see you sitting high and dry for 5 hours.

for the GT's, head past Delambrey for a few miles and look for rocks and tidal flows

Delambre Is on the northern

Delambre Is on the northern side, big drop off and tidal movement, worth a cast for trevs and big queenies and a troll for mackies, plenty of reef if you draw a line from the end of the Cape Lambert shipping channel to the NE tip of Delambre if you are looking for a feed off the bottom, heaps of blue lined emperor off there just sound around. fish the lows for barra and get into the holes, perhaps a high tide exploring trip to check them out and map your entry wouldn't hurt.
