Hi everyone. Heading down to point Walter jetty for some tailor on halco twisty's. What gram twisty would you recommend? Anyway got a size 4000 reel with about a 20-30lb mainline. 7.2ft rod. Will add a 50lb trace. Will this get good casting distance. And also would the tailor be slowing down now?

Woah, you could catch a sambo
Woah, you could catch a sambo on that gear. I use a 1-2 kg rod, 4lb line with 10lb fluoro leader and get 50+ cm greenbacks, will half empty my spool (150yards) casting a 20g twisty
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

20-30lb braid and a graphite
20-30lb braid and a graphite rod 20-40gm will be fine, mono, 40gm+ or it won't be goin very far.

Hey tim-o, have you ever
Hey tim-o, have you ever landed a big greenback on a jetty usin 4lb? Don't think a cliff/jetty gaff is worth the effort for a tailor.

Would a bream size 2500 reel
Would a bream size 2500 reel with 4lb braid and a 8lb mono leader do the trick?

That'd be perfect for swan
That'd be perfect for swan tailor, rarely do they get over 35cm around Pt Walter, just be careful lifting them onto the jetty, if you can get your hands on 10 or 15 lb leader it would be better, they have sharp teeth! Take your time and don't try to skulldrag the fish in. Also a 15 or 20gm twisty would be perfect, just need to think of the bait they would be chasing ( whitebait and similar sized baitfish ) and use the appropriate lure size. Goodluck!

Do you think that the spit
Do you think that the spit or jetty is best for tailor?

Depends on the tide. At low
Depends on the tide. At low tide the spit is exposed so you can easily walk out and search both sides. On high tide the spit is covered with water which is ok in summer but not so good on cooler nights. Also, sometimes there can be a lot of that thin green 'hair' type weed floating around the spit which fouls your trebles. If the jetty isn't too busy try there first otherwise explore the spit. U recommend a 30lb mono?
U recommend a 30lb mono? Going to be using same trace for the moles and down at the rockingham jetty. (Tailor not that big there)

Hate mono, I fish the Busso
Hate mono, I fish the Busso jetty a bit for tailor, use 20lb braid with 20lb fluoro leader, only go that heavy because of lifting the fish onto the jetty, that's when your line will break. Off the beach or the yak I use 4lb with 8lb leader and 10-20gm twistys, down side, they can swallow the metal and 8lb vs tailor teeth = lost twisty.
