Yeah, it could be if they ban the gas canisters also.

the problem was more user
the problem was more user era. People were using quite large pans or bbq plates on them which caused the heat to travel towards and over the top of the cannister.... cannister got hot and we all know what happens when gas gets hot and expands. They are redesigning the cookers with a good shut off valve for when the pressure rises in the cannister.

Had a mate with one explode
Had a mate with one explode and was his own fault like above comment
he used a massive fryin pan which made the heat go to the can and explode it
