Pots back in
Submitted by carnarvonite on Thu, 2022-09-22 19:03
Dropped the pots back in this morning to see if we can put some whiskers in the freezer.
Saw a few new pots in the water and the odd ones left over from last season all covered in snot, if they are no good at least make an effort to take them out instead of leaving them there to rot away and the ropes etc becoming a navigation hazard

Buffalo
Not as far north as Buffalo, outside where the effluent pipe used to run, where the red stained section of sandhill is.
Occy beat us to what was a good size southern so hopefully better tomorrow now that the pots have stopped bubbling

The pros have pots out in close where we are John, must be a few about. Watched 3 boats working them yesterday.

Crays always start their run earlier in the Freo, Two Rocks to Lancelin area first, then Jurien and finally southern waters for some reason. Water is very dirty down our way, lot of ground swell and fresh coming out from the Old Cut doesn't help

how close ?
How close Andy. Thinking of putting pots back in as well. Freezer is too full of old heads etc so thought would be good to get the pots in to free up some freezer space (hope replace with some crays)
Cheers

Thanks Andy
Thanks for the info Andy. Just need to do a few repairs and aim to get some pots back in toward the end of the week. Weather improving then and swell dropping as well. Hope Ocean Reef does better this and next year. Most silty work seems to be done on the new Marina. Dont know if that reduced the numbers but hopefully we'll get a few
Cheers
