preston info

with a good tailor year happening up north of perth , was wondering how preston , whitehills area was fairing

this year?

I have heard quads are no longer able to go on the beach ( another access  lost forever ? will 4x4 be next? )

worth thinking about.

thanks , I usually give help , not ask for it but, hopefully what goes around , comes around.

cheers.

Unfortunately ruined by a few for the many

Sat, 2012-02-11 11:53

Been up in Kcity for over 4yrs now, but that was home turf, just a spit away from Parkridge.

IMO always worth a go, but look for gutters.

There used to be a great one right infront of Sarich's house on Whitehills. We thought he must have dug it himself!!!

Unfortunately for you, the quads made a real nuisance off themselves roaring up and down the beach, up sand dunes, doing broggies and spraying sand at the fishers.

We have been there numerous times saying "*king quads". Just ruined the peace and I for one are not upset at that, but then it effects the ligit quad users aswell as the bogans.

Plenty of bread and butter stuff around to keep you entertained and burley up well. Hezzas, gardies and in very close you can get some plump whiting, and the odd YFWhiting schools pop through.

Tailor mostly at their dawn/dusk time, but have caught some good ones at anytime.

Hope this helps a little.

I haven't had much luck with

Sat, 2012-02-11 12:00

I haven't had much luck with tailor this yearonly caught a few & one small salmon couple of weeks ago. Going down this arvo.

Lots of people cutting up into the dunes and camping mostly White Hills end, wont be long before a crack down will start.

I don't have a issue with quads on beach as long as the same rules apply as for 4WD.

Ya best bet is to come in from White Hills end, From what I understand and have seen Most rangers come from Preston Beach entry and head north for about 10k. This might be where their territory ends.

many thanks

Sat, 2012-02-11 12:06

thanks for the reply , yeah a lot of long term , respectible quadfishers ( mainly retired guys) so unfairly

punished , that its downrite un Australian , it always baffles me , how after a area is banned , for quads , 4x4 etc

the local councils can always afford and make available rangers etc to police it and fine people ( nice little earner that mate)

yet beforehand they winge about not having the staff or resources, to keep it under control and ping the idiots.

will head down to preston later today ( sat) for a afternoon flick  ( minus the quad! )

results on preston beach

Sun, 2012-02-12 08:45

Arrived about 4pm about 6-8 kms south of preston , tailor to 45cm were on the chew right away.

had a hot little bite going for about 1 1/2 hours , then it shutdown just before dusk.

great spot for kids and both my daughter and a mates son caught fish.

We released maybe 10 fish 300mm and under , and kept 10 or so between us , smallest 350mm, largest 450mm.

only a fair day on solunar, and it didnt co enside with any feeding period , as well as a nw wind all day.

just shows ya , theres no subsitute for getting out and giving it a go.

Yeh I've fished Tims

Wed, 2012-02-15 17:06

Yeh I've fished Tims Thicket-Preston with the wife the last two weekends to catch fresh bait for a trip in march. Been fishing well for Herring, whiting and tailor around 40cm. We have pulled over and fished different spots from Tims all the way through to Myalup and every spot held herring.

Does anyone know if you can get back on the beach south of Myalup and keep steaming south?

Cheers
