Progress report for new BAR CRUSHER.730HT----LIGHTS-CAMERA-ACTION!!
Gday all..
Here i am stuck out at work, bouncing off the walls like a kid on Christmas eve waiting to finish this tour and head home to take delivery of the new toy.
The lads at ALL BOATS in Perth have been great so far, im just hoping that continues past driving out the gate. She went into the paint shop just before the factory shut down for Chrissy break, but the cabin is painted a dark charcoal, with inside the cabin all blacked out. The plan from the start was to polish and seal the hull for something different. But since i had some problems with hand carrying "SHARKHIDE' polish back from the states, i need to try and find a equal product locally. OR, look into a nice wrap.
How many of you have got an Ally boat wrapped?? Ive heard stories about the UV damaging the vinyl and causing the pictures to fade?
Due to having a bit of another delay in delivery time, the lads at the dealership were nice enough to mount and wire up all my lights. When ppl ask if im scared of the dark, i ask them what IS dark???

you might want to think about adding a couple more tubes to your rocket launcher - not sure that 17+ (doing a quick count) will be enough...

Wank factor ;)
Ha ha, thought they might get a few bites... Its a pity that the photo's dont show the 4 in each gunwale, or the 3 in the bait board either...
The missus didnt see the funny side when i told her i needed to buy more rods to fill them thou.

Looks like it is a tank going
Looks like it is a tank going to war with all that Rocket "thingy's". Fully loaded she will look like a porcupine on heat.
Planning on going into rough weather with all the grab rails. And yes I would have a walk through myself (to old to climb over) but then there is always a good story to a custom version on every boat.
Love the layout so far. Looks very cool and planned.

never enough
that has made my morning... "Porcupine on heat"
I work away at sea for for 7 months of the year, so when im home, rule of thumb the weather will turn to #$%^&. Its nice for everyone to be able to hold on when punching into the rough stuff :)

Walk Through
I took delivery of a 780 HT last October. I would also have gone for the walk through but would comment additionally on the tanks that the drain holes could have been a bit lower in mine. I need to do the continuous hand swirl to clean the bottom out otherwise it gets a bit pongy after a few days in the sun.I imagine you must be two metres tall to reach those rod holders?? In the old language I'm 6'1" and the normal rack is a real stretch to reach. Its also annoying that they are sized that you need to remove the rubber butt on most of your rods for them to fit and then try and remember what goes where with what afterwards. Another rope tie point where the cabin meets the side rail would be useful as the one's up front are not a huge amount of use unless you are getting towed and I'm sure you don't plan on that.I had my GPS mounted on the dash in front and the fish finder mounted on top in the top panel/centre rack, hope you follow what I mean. Not a smart idea as it blocks a lot of my vision if I decide to sit down. in hindsight I would have mounted it on the passenger side with it angled towards starboard. Its still close to see easily and manipulate when you want. In all though you got yourself a great boat and I wish you many happy years of boating and fishing.

interesting points.
the fwd middle rocket launchers might be a bit touchy to get to, but tehy will jsut be the last ones filled. There is a engel slide/seat thats 3/4 the height of the gunwale under each of chairs. That and being jsut over 6foot tall myself also, i can get access to most of them fairly easy. The demo boat i took for a spin when down in the city had them and jsut fell in love. lol.
I was wondering how things went in under that tinted cover for the tanks, and how it would smell after a few days away. i imagine as long as i give it a good clean, and leave the covers open in the shed when not in use, it should dry out ok.... i hope..
Talking about the extra cleats, there is a capstan going just behind where the cabin meets on the stb side, and 9 times out of 10 thats the side i tie off to, i imagine the roller should have enough strength to drop a loop around to tie off to the jetty when required..
Have you got any photo's of your electronics that your talking about? I think i follow what you mean. I have got a HDS10 that i was planning on fluch mounting for the GPS, and then a NSS12 that i was going to bracket mount in front of that for the sounder. Would be interesting to see how much vision it cuts before bolting it all in thou.

Bit of colour.
Im still in 2 minds if it were a good idea or not haveing the two kill tanks. The initial line of thought was that one tank is good, 2 is better :) frozen bait OR beers in one side, livies in the other. My old 6.5 quintrex had the walk thru and i just seen it as a bit of a waste of space for the amount of times it is used. In saying that, im only in my late 20's so its easy for us to climb over it when loading up/diving/swimming.

Bait Tanks
Personally I think you made the right choice with the twin bait tanks rather than walk thru.
Its not that hard to step over and worse case you can sit on it to get over. The twin tanks give you more options on what to use them for say drinks, bait or livies
Boat is looking good. How long till its ready?

Then pick it up before Aussie day. I head back to work for 5 weeks from the 10th of Feb thou, so if i havent got it by then, it will sit there till mid march :(

Nice looking boat mate.I
Nice looking boat mate.
I have recently bought a 4 year old boat with a full vinyl wrap and I am in the process of removing the vinyl from the hardtop and bow section so I can clear coat it. The vinyl is fine on the vertical surfaces but discolored on the horizontal ones, mainly from sundamage. The vinyl is also a pain in the ass to get off once it gets old. On the plus side the vinyl covered ali looks brand new.
Cheers

always a bright side.
Getting the vinyl off, does a heat gun help out a bit with pulling it off? Are you just going to clear coat strait over the ally?? I was planning on polishing the hull and then doing the same thing.. Just need to try and find a good brand polish/clear coat/ protectant that is worth the $$$.

Tried a heat gun which didnt really help as it still keeps breaking off in small bits. Got a hold of a steam wallpaper remover from a signwriter which is supposed to work well. Havent had time to try it yet.
The plan is to remove the vinyl from the whole boat and replace the sides. The top and bow will be acid washed and then coated with nylaic. As long as you keep the surfaces away from solvents it seems to last ok.
Just got to decide what colour to make the sides.

picking the new colour will be 10 times harder than removing the old one i bet. Have you done much research into who/how much you will have put the new vinyl??

nice boat mate and I noticed
nice boat mate and I noticed I think you have 2 live bait tanks with the way they are fitted just make sure they have enough weld holding the back of them to the vertical sheet as it can slightly deform the sheet but it they don't it will once welded put pressure on the weld and consequently let go leaving you with a not so sealed tank as they only sicaflex in between welds. after it is painted hard to fix.

If you are still trying to
If you are still trying to decide on vinyl wrap or not the quote I got to redo the sides only on my boat was $1500. Thats with me doing all the stripping of the old wrap and cleaning up the surface.
We have decided on black sides and natural top with some black highlights. I will try and add a photo when it's done.
The $1500 price is in Broome so there may be a Kimberley factor in that price but I didn't think it was too bad.

thats a surprise.
Ive got a few buddies that i work with up in broome, some of the stories they come back to work with make e want to move further north again.
Its a bit of a shock that you got such a good price.I thought it was going to be worth heaps more than that down in the city, let alone anywhere out of metro.

Yeah, have spent a fair bit of time on boats, and spoken to a bunch of people, both locally in Gero and on here for ideas. After taking the boat out for a spin with the new suzuki 250APX, i wish i put a little grab handle/palm rest down near the throttle so i dont keep bumping it to wide ass open. Those things are sooo touchy...

better be this break
Im hoping that ill be over there this break more than im home. Ive taken an extra week for this break, so ill have 5 weks at home to catch up on some fishing. I gotta drive down to perth to pick her up, so might come back along the coast road over a few days and drop into a few places on the way. Makes it a bit more interesting.
