Ally boat respray or vinyl wrap
Submitted by willkerr on Mon, 2015-02-02 11:11
Anyone know of a reasonably price spray shop that does a good job in Perth area? Also what about the option of Vinyl wrap?
Any ideas or contacts appreciated.
First photo is the boat. Acrylic comes off with thinners as the previous owner painted it with pressure cans.
Second photo is kind of what i want it to look like.

Vinyl wrap will fade--1t
Vinyl wrap will fade--1t won't scratch, but a good hit will peel it up. It won't bubble, but won't last as long as paint before it looks sad.It certainly won't be as glossy as a good paint job, and the paint will actually be easier to renew, when you have the urge, because it won't need to be taken back to bare metal. There was someone on here a short while ago complaining about the difficulty of removing old vinyl wrap--apparently the heat gun had it coming off in small pieces.

Neither
leave the outside ally but paint the topside of the inside to reduce glare.

interesting
Ive been wondering about the same. Ill pick up my new boat in a few weeks time, and have painted the cabin, but left the hull raw. I had intentiones to polish and seal it, but im now toying with the idea of a wrap.

I forget the names of the products
but up north we gave the outside an acid wash and then sealed it with some type of marine clear. Ultra durable, looked good and the chips you would normally get didn't stand out like dogs balls and look tatty..

ones i found
i found "SHAKHIDE" over in the states. They used to have an agent here in Aussie, but not any more apparently. I was going to hand carry some back last trip, but looking at the MSDS, i dont think i would of made it :-/ It also cost 3 times as much as the product in freight to get it over this side of the world. There is another mob called "SHINESEAL" that do pretty much the same thing, and they only cost $25 to send from the states. the last one i found was topshine, from "TOP GEAR" that is a protective coating for your paint/wrap.
Do any of those names ring a bell ??? :)
