prop selection

Gday fellas.

Im looking at trying out some different size props to see how they perform. At the moment im running a 3x 14/21 on a suzuki DF140 pushing cruisecraft 575.

Fishing use only and mainly long trips at speed. Dont need holeshot.

Has anyone gone down this road and with what results.

i would like to try a few different pitches and see what difference it makes.

feel free to comment

tony

on a 200 etec on my 6.55mtr glass i went from a standard 3 blade s/s reble to a same size 4 blade and fuel comsuption went through the roof!

at the time we were sure it would improve fuel and performace....the 4 blade did neither mate.

defo worth the effort playing around if you can source the props, thats the hard bit, i know someone that has a few props avail and will let you use them for testing....but, differant props need differant hub adaptors and thats where the problem lays, gets expensive buying hubs at $100 a go.

hopefully some members with the same tub can help you out.

cheers

ron

Prop

Have a 2007 Suzuki 140hp and was running the 3x14x21 ali prop.

Now running a 3 blade stainless with some good results.

Considered the 4 blade but that would provide more lift in the arse end and I was after more trim adjustment for the bow.

Sent you a pm.

4 blade thumbs up

I have a 1993 150hp Johnson 2 stroke. I went and saw Just Propellors in Osborne Park and went from a 15x17 3 blade aluminium prop up to a 14.5x17 4 blade and was quite amazed at the difference. He did offer me to try out the prop so long as I did not use it too much or scratch it. Holeshot was not a problem with any number of people on board, much better response in rough weather and maintaining cruising speed of 26knots a noticeable reduction in fuel consumption ie. averaging 0.2-0.4 km/lt better. Needless to say, I kept it. The only drawback I have been told is she may use more fuel at wot but to be honest 26 knots is plenty for me.
