Quality number of dollies

good to see so many dollies showing up this year.

Was out the back of rotto on saturday and eventho we did not get a dollie, the water temp showed 26.6 on the sounder!

Question i had is the number of dollies being caught AWAY from the FAD's? Seems be be quite a few free swimming at the moment? As far as im aware this isnt all that common downj this way is it?

Sam C got one at West End a few years back, Hlokk lost one while expecting a Salmon last year.

I guess that without the FADs, thats how all dollies used to be caught?

we scooted out for another crack on my boat yesterday, and were trolling bibbed minows at west end, when we had a scorching run (which i'm 95% certain was a macky) in 35m water. we stopped the boat, and were retreiving the other lines when we dropped the fish, but look over the side, and there was a free swimming dolly of well over a metre. unfortunately, it wasnt interested in any of our offerings.

with the water temp right up there this year, nothing is out of the ordinary.

we did however pick up a good one of about 9-10kg, well past the fads, but unfortunately that was it for the day (trying to load photos, but work computer being a bitch this morning ** edit got it!!**)

Nozzas dolly from sunday.

Not this year, but awhile

Not this year, but awhile back I got one 14 miles due west of OR, drift baiting, but that was a good year for the dollies as well.  Looks like when they are around in big numbers, they are everywhere.

Certainly been a good summer for dollies and macks in the metro and surrounds.

A few macks were caught around Bunker Bay, Dunsborough on the weekend.

One was also speared on the west coast.

A guy caught one [ Dollie] on Sunday in 40 m from Hillarys. Caught on a spare alvey with no drag as he was pulling in his line to check bait!! I saw the fish hit it 10 foot from the boat! Was 94cm and approx 6/7 kg. Ive got the photo on my facebook as I still don't know how to post a photo. Saltwater charters wa. Also a photo of a 15kg wahoo we got from the furuno fad last week. Millions of dollies but could only land a couple on a popper and a small jig.Very frustrating. Will give it another crack this week. 70 mtrs active for tuna and dollies too.
