Quick one?

Hi guys,
Just busy refurbing a secondhand runabout boat I bought recently, and have recieved the sticker for the rego - crap brown colour, but anyways - where must this sticker be placed on the boat nowadays - tried a internet search and one on here, but no definite position is indicated?
Seems DOT says registration should be "adjacent" to numbers on the left of the boat? My numbers are in the centre of the boat, and putting the sticker there seems silly, as it would probably get washed off by the wake?
Any clarity on this, and how strict are they regarding this nowadays?
Cheers,

I think you will find that
I think you will find that the numbers should, which in legal speak means MUST, be where they say so that the boat can be identified correctly from either side.
Registration numbers must be fixed as follows:
Give them a call to clarify this as DOT officers can be very picky and worse than coppers.

Rego sticker
your numbers are in the correct spot and the sticker does need to go adjacent to the numbers on the lhs of the boat. as long as you clean the area properly the rego sticker won't come off they are surprisingly sticky..
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

Putting it next to the rego
Putting it next to the rego numbers doesn't suit me either and I've always stuck it on the left hand side of the windscreen and have never had a an issue when being inspected.

More to the point. Why has DoT done away with stickers for cars but not boats?

probably because the people
probably because the people dealing with the boats are smarter.
Its a pain in the ass not having a sticker, especially if you drive various company or private vehicles for work, say detailing/servicing cars etc for example

Thanks Guys, Appreciate the feedback - GroveWA, I think that caption is relative to the actual boat Rego Numbers, not the annual sticker mate?
Has anyone ever got a fine for having it on the LHS windscreen, and is it big$$$ or just a small fine?
My boat has had some new paintwork done, so I would prefer not to put a sticker over the new paint, but I suppose if you must, you must - does this sticker come off next year, or is it like a bunnings price tag and impossible to get off - like the gift that never stops giving...?
Do you guys know where I can pick up a set of those baot logon, log off stickers, and the safety signage required for the boats? I contacted Marine Safety, and they sent me an autoresponse and forwarded the mail on to someone else?
I agree Jack Frost80, get rid of the annual sticker, and use the boat Rego number to verify if it is licenced..

rego stickers
If the first one is well stuck, the bloody things stick so well I just put the new one on top of the old one. Don't bother to remove them. Have been doing this for years.
