It should only block the signal physicaly but not interfere electrialy. just turn on your GPS with the antenna down , look at your sattelites your receiving data from then lift the antenna if you get better signals then it is blocking up to a point on the other hand when there are not many sats in view you may block them all given the other things around it i.e the console.

hey blake i have exact same dome type as well virtually in the same spot as yours n seem to be having some problems eg, when started goto route to coords it has givn me my track most of the day then suddenly it has deleted bout a third of it from the start of journey what tha ? i realised one of the boys had his arm over the top of it holding on to the bow rail now we have stopped this no more probs touch wood . cheers deano..

yeah ive never had any problems with the gps reciever positioned were it is (its been there for a while)so im not sure whats going on with yours.
