Recycled Squid as Bait

I used to buy squid tubes from the supermarket and then sliced them up in strips for bait. Any leftover bait from the fishing trip will be put in the home freezer to be used again for the next fishing trip. Is this a good practice? Is there any difference from buying squid from a supermarket (fit for human consumption) as to buying squid bait (not for human consumption) from a fishing tackle shop? My fishing success is nothing to brag about.

From what I've been able to
From what I've been able to see, the squid you buy for bait have a much more "squiddy" smell and are whole (including all their insides), this I would assume acts as a great attractant to fish. ie, it looks and smeels much more natural.

I buy whole cuttlefish and
I buy whole cuttlefish and squid (insides entact) from my local IGA - I find it is compparable if not cheaper than buying from the bait shop . I find these to be fresher than and therefore more productive than bait shop squid.
PS I also ask the IGS for fish heads , guts and carcasses from their bins whcih they sell to me for 50 cents a kilo and use thise for berley
