redarc and hydrastar

I can't find any information, and its looking unlilkely.

Are redarc brake controllers compatible with hydrastar units?

I wanted the redarc, for the remote head etc but it doesn't look like they are compatible?

Anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks

thumbs up to the Tekonsha P3.
But I cannot for the life of me work out the logic of making a lovely clip in mount so you can remove it but the mount takes up the same envelope as the controller and you will still hit your knee or whatever on it when removed.

I have a TowPro / Hydrastar setup, but...

Started out with a standard TowPro unit that wouldn't recognise the trailer.  Fixed the problem with a Load resistor, but the unit actively calibrates and wouldn't do that with a Hydrastar.  The solution was to calibrate on another trailer with a compatible unit, then it would be OK and it would work with the Hydrastar.  Unfortunately I didn't have access to another trailer.

Ended up buying the Elite version - changed the units over and it works fine.  The Elite calibrates differently and works well with my setup.

Like you, liked the in dash design of the TowPro.  Now have a standard TowPro for sale on Gumtree!!  Also have a P3 if anyone wants one.

Feel free to PM me with any other queries.

I just had a towpro elite installed am waiting for the trailer to be finished which now will have a hydrastar unit. Auto sparky who did the install talked me into the towpro over the P3 so will see how it goes. He was sure it was compatible with the hydrastar unit.

thanks guys

talked to a few people today and apparently the new version of the tow pro elite is compatible.

The work around was the resistor but that's not needed anymore with the new version.
