Just after recommendations on a spinning reel to suit a Demon Blood 64C J rod to use for jigging.  Looking to spend around $400

Stradic will fall apart

Sun, 2017-03-12 12:22

stradic will fall apart I've had heaps there good but week, I'd say the new Daiwa BG 4000 no need to spend $400 it's just as good as any reel around that price. Or if u must spend heaps a Saragosa 6000 but it weighs a lot for its size as a Daiwa 4000 I'd the same size as a shimano 6000 but weighs less and holds more line. Hope this helps

 Two good recommendations

 Two good recommendations here ^^

Alan Hawk's review of the Daiwa BG is very positive, and for the price it's hard to go wrong.

Though for $400 you're getting into second hand Twin Power & Catalina territory

not sure about the stradic FK

Sun, 2017-03-12 12:51

not sure about the stradic FK (however I hear it only has upgrades) but have jigged pretty extensively with a FJ Stradic ....perth.... coral bay ....monties up to 100m and the Stradic has held up very well. Caught Red Emp spangled Dhu's cobia rankins etc etc.
still smooth as.

Good choice on the BG as I said no need to waste money to get barely any difference. I've got a BG and love it even sold my stradic just to get lures for it! Cheers

Hey Mitch

I'd go for a certate for that kind of money - I've put a few through their paces and they hold up well.

The new daiwa saltist looks pretty good.

Very similar to a saragosa only a bit lighter.

Just a bit of feedback guys,

Just a bit of feedback guys, purchased a daiwa 4000 BG with 30lb braid and put it through its paces at the Abrolhos the past few days. Landed dhuies to 13kg with no problems and even a decent cobia which would have weighed approx. 15kg. Definitley value for money!

I logged in to post the Motackle sale on at the moment too.  That is a great price for them!

I've recently bought a 5000 BG.  I got exactly 400m of 40lb onto it for those interested.
