Refuelling Boats
Submitted by southcoast on Mon, 2017-05-15 19:51
This afternoon I went to the local servo to fill the new (seondhand) Bar Crusher 670C.
Jumped in the boat (no other way to refill) as the inlet is between the two front seats. Servo attendant refused to turn pump on - you're not allowed to refill the boat while you're in it.
WTF - I did 'ask' how she proposed that I refill the boat when my arms are not 2m long. Response 'company policy'
Anyone else encountered similar?
PS - went to another servo without any hitch.

Refuelling
Never had an issue with petrol station attendants. One of my criticisms with the BarCrusher 670's is where the fuelling inlet is. Need to park very close to the bowser because sometimes the hose struggles to reach the inlet. Also can get a little splash near the cabin area and fuel under the seatswhen filling plus the visibility is not great without using a torch to see how full it is. Minor issues but could have been better placed IMO.

I hear you loud and clear.
It was a still day too - so got a whiff of fumes while refilling.
Any service stations out there with tight bay space and limited turning circle may be a challenge.

I always jump up on my boat
I always jump up on my boat when refueling and my fuel inlet is right on the edge of the boat, I just jump into so I can see the gauge when almost full. No one has ever said anything

douchebags
Yeah they're fuckin little dipshit douchebag power trippers. I have been told similar before, and Rang up the servo's head office, and they informed me there is no such policy.
same same with using a pin or the locker on the pump handles, so you can fill up the tank without holding the trigger. they'll tell you (over the loud speaker...) you're not allowed to do it, but you are. try filling up a couple of hundred litres of fuel or diesel without it! some pumps you'll be there for over 20 minutes!
make a complaint about it mate.

I had the cashier tell me
I had the cashier tell me over the load speaker that they wouldnt turn the Deisel pump on because my brother in law was sitting inside the cab with the doors shut talking on his phone. Made him hang up bis call before she would turn it on.
That was a BP up on Wanneroo rd i think.

On another servo subject
On another servo subject some of the c#~nts are now charging for all credit charges, since payWave has taking off.the boys at Exmouth fuel supplies let you fill up your own boat.

same for motorcycles
they ask you to get off the bike for refuelling...probably better linked to ride-offs though
There are a lot of small minded idiots working at servos these days
....a few months back they tried to tell me it was a directional entrance (ie one-way in and out) to a servo .......no arrows, no signage....no fricking idea

Probably the same reason
Probably the same reason they dont want you filling up jerry cans in ute trays, static electricity.

It is hard enough to get them
It is hard enough to get them to turn on the pumps, to busy making Macchiatos and cappuccinos to worry about pumping fuel.

Thanks guys.
Seems like I ran into someone who is a stickler for the rules - even though said rules seem a little haphazardly applied.
I have taken my business elsewhere in response.

Perhaps confused about the
Perhaps confused about the rules, stemming from the need to place fuel containers on the ground to discharge any static, particularly when they have been riding in a ute with a tub liner where static build up can be a problem.
My latest servo pet hate is at my nearest servo, Woolworths, when you pull up a loud TV style broadcast blasts at your head. I mostly don't go there, but when circumstances take me there to fill the ute, I stick the fuel cap in the trigger and walk away from the horrible racket. It's diesel and auto shut off so I'm not concerned.
Cheers
