Refurbishment finally completed

The old 6.8 Seaquest has had a total spring clean.  Complete new paint job thanks to Surge, new rod holders thanks to Andy (seakem) , new clears and a fully towable cover and stone guard  by GK Trimmers. Now all I need is some good weather.

Cover was a little over $2,000

Thu, 2018-02-08 17:38

Fully vented to prevent condensation build up in winter, reinforced on all rub points and canvas has a seven year warranty.  Had one on my old Formula 1800 .....was still going strong after 8 years.  Sure you can get cheaper but it tows perfectly with minimal flapping.

Interested to know, was that $2K including the stone deflectors on the trailer or just the canvas cover?

Thu, 2018-02-08 18:58

I've got a cover from GK trimmers it's coming on 10 years old

has some signs of wear as the boat has close to 2000 hours on it so it's been taken on and off many times and I couldn't be happier

woukd highly recommend a cover fromGK

Towing.

Fri, 2018-02-09 10:08

Would you tow it with the cover on ??
I would think it would kill your fuel consumption.
My thought would be to let the wind flow through the gaps to make it easier.
But saying that it looks great & a good job well done.

Oddly the cover makes little difference when towing

Fri, 2018-02-09 13:54

I am sure if you removed cover and the clears then some improvement would be noted but with a spanking new paint job I am prepared to forego 0.2 litres per 100km.  By way of interest on a recent trip across the Nullabor NOT towing we had 40knot headwinds for most of the way, it made 4 litres per 100km difference in fuel consumption when compared with the consumption on the return journey in relatively calm conditions so headwind or otherwise seems to have the greatest impact
