Removing Steering Wheel
Submitted by pharlap on Wed, 2012-01-04 12:43
I have a manky looking steering wheel I would like to replace.
Its some kind of black poly type material I cant see a brand.
I can get the centre nut off thats fine but my problem is I cant seem to remove the steering wheel or anything any further than this. Below the wheel is like a raised cowling if that helps, I could take a photo.
Does it pull or knock off or does it screw thread off, if so which way would it thread off as I cant seem to budge it either way. ?
Or am I missing something ?
Cheers again.

Will come off with a tap.
Will come off with a tap. Loosen the nut off so the surface of the nut is flush with the bolt. While pulling outwards on the wheel give the nut a hit with a hammer. Should free straight up. Don't lose the key.
Havin the nut still on will save the threads from getting damaged and stop the wheel from coming back and hitting you in the face.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Some might apply to your setup, generally if you can get the wheel nut off, that should be it. Then "just" pull.
