At least that saved me another $120

FFS!!! $260 and I haven't left the driveway just go out and dangle a farkin line with the kids!

This is EXACTLY why I stopped renewing it every year, like I used to, for everything, just in case I felt the urge to take the kids out for the day.

$80 for bait? You are supposed to bring the dhu's and crays home mate, not start with them for bait! I just went and bought 3 different kinds of bait and 2 blocks of berley for $42 so not sure what you're using.

$120 for licenses amortised across the year means it is only $0.35 cents for today. If strapped for cash and only 'dangling' then using 1 RFBL and not exceeding it's bag limit covers all the fishers in your boat. You only need 1 RFBL licence if you are taking no more than the bag limit of that RFBL.

Amortised...

So just for giggles, today I calculate the $ I spent in licences since 2008, against days fishing, against actual taken home fish...

$492 in Lic & Tags
33 Days where I needed them.
$14.91 per day.

For:
40 odd Abs
40 odd Crabs
1 Shark Bay Snapper in 2013 (4 Tags in Lottery)
3kg Fish 2015
13kg Fish 2016

In 2008 I paid $81 for everything, just in case I felt the need or the opportunity arose, I just renewed it all in 2009.
In 2010 I didn't pay $230 for everything.
I didn't renew a licence until I did a shark bay trip in 2013, 2015, 2016.
In 2019 it's $290 for everything...

If I'd just kept renewing it - a mere $2500 in licences.

ABS has inflation at <2.5% 2010-2017
$81 at 2.5% compounded over 10 years is $106.28

$106-$290... yeah that seems reasonable.

Get it.

Old mates saying before you could log in on a friday night or sat morn early and buy alic , like you should be able to,  then use the reciept as your lic proof for weekend.

I had heard something about the site been screwed up , If it was me Id prob go fishing anyway and in the unlikely chance you get caught I would explain the situation , and then cop the fine if thats the end result.

But thats a personel choice that you shouldnt have to make in the first place if the site was working as it should.

Yep, Shoulda just bought a Dhui and cray and been done with it ;)

"Bait" was also berley, oil, pollard... at BCF...
I've still got crab legs in the freezer for the "shark bay trip" from 2 years ago... when I caught them.

z00m, last time I went to Shark Bay I figured out the cost per KG of the snapper I bought home was about $1000 a kilo, fuel, accom, licences, tags in the lottery, fish we could keep (everything we caught was too big)... 4 tags = 1 fish.

6Ps and all that... got home from work at 23:50 and just not prepared for first awesome day that coincides with the first day off since FKW?

Ended up with a small Wrasse to the boy within a minute of dropping anchor (smile = priceless), a 4ft stingray and then an hour session on the blowies (kids favourite).
All catch and release.

Printed out the "Computer Says No" page for Justin ;)

Honestly... it just pi$$ed me off that it was so much work (and risk - cause sure as eggs I'll be the guy losing his boat for the 1 day in 2 years I've managed to get th eplanets to align and get out) just to take the kids out for a fish on a whim...

It shouldn't be this hard or expensive just to catch a friggen fish from a boat!
