it is brittle when it goes off though and in no time will crack, Like alot of factory off the shelf rods do and get worse when you add sun and water. If you wanna do it properly, use a 2 part epoxy. Something like erskine. It is a co polymer epoxy and made to bend and flex.

Two part epoxy/araldite also
Two part epoxy/araldite also works for bindings. The slow cure kind tends to yellow less and be tougher than the 5 min kind.

Filler
If it is new binding, make sure you give it a couple of coats of thread filler to seal and tighten bindings prior to the epoxy.
Even the thread that doesn't require filler will benefit from a coat.
