Rod for Softies

Alright, time to give it a bash.
I was thinking of trying some 7 & 10 inch McCarthys next weekend up in Jurien.
Unfortunately, I don't think any of my rods are really suitable, can anyone guide me in the right direction, and I definately don't want to spend a heap. Probably the only reel I have suitable would be the Salti z4500.
....and I promised not to buy anymore tackle this year ..... what a joke !!

its a big reel to be working
its a big reel to be working plastics with and you will find it can almost get clumsy with a reel of that size, generaly we try to use 4000 style reels loaded with 20-30lb braid, idealy match to 6'6 or 7 foot rods. I would probly opt for a longish jig rod which will be more suited to that style of reel but will still be able to work plastics efectively. What its your budget i might be able to recomend a rod
