rotto salmon, from shore?

heading to rotto next weekend and keen on getting into some salmon from shore. I know ricey beach fished well for them when i was a kid but thats going back ten or so years so wondering if anyone has had a go more recently? all of west end is now a sanctuary zone is that correct?

Im guessing baitcasting mulies will be the best option?

Appreciate any advice!

Cheers

I think Bait casting an Unweighted Mulie on a gang over some reef next to a white wash might be productive?

Hey mate I went last year on a landbased salmon trip with another member, We rode bikes all around the island and mainly hit up the left side and had a bit of success from the top of little salmon bay right through salmon bay. Pristine beaches, definately worth hitting a few different spots. All on the light gear :)

thanks guys!

should be good so long as the weather holds out. even if i dont find the salmon should be fish around i reckon.

Not as fit as i used to be so might ride around in the morning with the light gear, then pick a spot later in the day to put some live herring out... never know what mght swim by :-)

cheers
