Rotto surf

I have a couple of blokes from over east staying in a fortnight, keen to take them out in the boat but they are more surfers than fisherman.

can anyone point me in the right direction around where to head around west end that's safe to get a boat close enough to chuck them out for some waves?

If theres any southerly in

If theres any southerly in the wind throw them in at fruitbowls at Ricey beach, north side of Rotto. Needs at least 2m swell if I remember correctly. Surfing there one time and there was a big bait ball just flickin on the surface next thing a big spaniard launches out the water straight through them!

Yep you're right, 3m not 2m, it needs that bit extra for it to wrap around the north side

Fruities needs a a high tide

Sun, 2013-10-20 21:38

Fruities needs a a high tide to.be surfable. Gets very shallow on a low tide - as such.more of a boogers wave. Really

depends on the conditions and there abilities as surfers. Try the wannasurf website for some options.

Strickos

I saw a surf comp at strickland bay once. They had a couple of boats sitting out the back of the break so should be easy enough to get in and out.
