Rotto swim Leuwin ramp

For those who have done the swim previously what time does the Leuwin boat ramp get to capacity and are cars permitted to stay overnight? Last year we launched from Matilda Bay and it's a fair hike up the river so looking for a closer option, can leave the boat in a pen at Coogee but still have the issue of leaving the car somewhere, our swimmer starts at 650. Cheers

We hit Leuwin about 4.45am

We hit Leuwin about 4.45am last year and we were one of the last cars to get a parking space... The carpark is just too small.

If the weather is good, I would launch from Woodman point. its only a 10-15min run up to the heads, free parking and there is acres of it. It takes you that long if not longer from Leuwin given the 8knot zone to the heads.

The parking attentants are hawks at leuwin so you have no chance of parking anywhere else once its full unless you make arrangements with a local resident. You can park overnight, just need to double up on the day pass ticket.

Matilda Bay

I'd avoid the logjam at Leeuwin, launch at Matilda and enjoy the cruise down the river.  About 20 mins extra time.

Plus parking is free at Matilda Bay on weekends.
