gps spots

You'll be hard pressed getting gps spots from anyone these days Luke, theyre may be a generous soul around, but best bet is to look for the boats 10km behind Rotto when the season starts.

DON'T bother until at least the end of Nov to try for them.

I have been out there a couple of times now and they don't turn up till Dec in good numbers but end of Nov is still good for a few early starters.

You will need to get a release weight or make something equivelent(lots of weights and a small hook), when fishing for them normally you will get a couple that don't go down straight away and will need the release weight.

Buy one, cheap as!

Tue, 2007-06-12 14:20

The cost of a release weight is $17.95 for the big 40oz version (Cheap as), that will work for most fish to 15kg, add a 32oz snapper lead for larger dhufish or sambo etc.....this will help them get down to the bottom.

Agree with Mav, the sambo's aren't arround in numbers until Oct/Nov.....you'll see the boats at the containers then!

If you drop down a baited

If you drop down a baited rig at the containers you can also pull a few other species. Such as mulloway, snapper.
