McVeigh out is a big loss for the Swan's backline and with good delivery we could push the Swans. Midfield battle will be the key and our rucks need to give us first usage against the monster Sydney mids.

And when are teams gunna realise that they can kick a goal from the 50m arc, because it's not 50 meters. Passing the ball inside from there is a waste of time, put the boot into it & put it in the square, at least it will score a behind or a possible mark for goal..
The SCG is 20m shorter than our arena, that's why the "50m" arc is so close to the centre square, its only 45m. Infact one year they actually marked it as 45m. Now they put a Telstra logo there where as everywhere else has the 50m.
Still a shit game to watch & the result shows on the ladder...

Still a few positives to come from the game, kennedy best FF in the league, Yeo a Dangerfield beast in his own right...
The Eagles would be in some strife though imo if they loose Nic Nat anytime soon, keep winning with him and loose him late in the season might not be such a big deal as they will have already secured a T4 finish but loose him anytime soon and she all could unravel.
Sydney are a team lead by the youngins, sure they have Kennedy, Grundy, Buddy but for me its these blokes like Hayward, Florent, Heeney, Mills ( injured ), Jones that Sydney keeps finding. The other Mcartin seems to be a good one also!!

Happy with Freo's output
Happy with Freo's output yesterday. A very good team performance across the ground. Backs up last week's gutsy win against the crows, which would have stood for nothing, had they put in another dismal away performance.
Expectation is now the same consistency against brisbsne after the bye, but then to bring the same effort and quality in every game in the second half of the year. As the ladder stands we play six of the top eight. Woukd be nice to match it and even knock a couple of those ones over.
That will be the measure of a successful season for the youngsters.

My mid season report card on freo:
List turnover - 12 new faces gets a tick;
Trading - wilson gets a tick, matera still needs to perform more consistently and impact more. I am not yet convinced this trade is a tick or a cross;
Drafting - big tick. Brayshaw, cerra, banfield all look like long term afl players. Giro, limited vision looks promising. Crowden, still need more convincing. Others unseen as yet;
The Pearces - alex gets a big tick. Has returned as a quality tall defender. Repeat selections of danyle gets a big cross. Too old, too slow.
Taking it to another level - langdon / blakely / luke ryan have all lifted their games to consistent and positive impacting;
Not taking it to another level - mccarthy gets a cross;
The potential in the young ones - cox and apeness both get ticks;
The injuries - bennell continues to struggle, darcy and taberner's untimely injuries, the hill brothers. A cross for injuries;
Off field behaviour - bradley, thats not my name hill let the club down. Cross.
Overall, showing good progress. Happy with the re-build. If we win the games we should and knock over a few above us in the second half, hell, we may even sneak into september.
