Round 18

The fight for second spot is still up for grabs and the Pies have four outs but some pretty handy ins. We know it can't be because of the ground because they make them tougher in the eastern states or some shit. Looks like West Coast might roll the dice on the 19y old ruckman who is very athletic but very raw but I can't see it happening.

Freo v Sydney... gee I hope it's not raining.

Fun fact from the stats files.

Freo have played 599 game for 247 wins whilst Sean Burgoyne has played 370 for 247 wins also to go with his four flags. Sean Burgoyne>Fremantle Football Club.

 I don't even know who

Wed, 2019-07-24 06:53

I don't even know who Haggers is, that sounds like a good thing...

Do Eagles supporters have to bash the Dockers on every topic?

Although WA is a two state team the majority are WC supporters.

It's easy cannon fodder for you WC supporters to maintain the barrage but occasionally instead of acting the bully you can add content... Or can you?

I think Freo were pro-active getting Ross Lyon from St Kilda, was almost an innovative move at the time...

It's easy to be an outsider and guess but unless you are part of the inner sanctum we are all merely guessing as to whether he's good bad or other....

The fact that blokes like Nick Reiwoltd hold him in such high regard tells me he's a good coach, if anyone else watched Afl360 last night you would've also seen that Reiwoltd is apparently going to become one of the coach scouts for St K and if that is the case there is a strong chance Lyon will be back at St Kilda...

If Freo let him go/get rid of him they'd want to ensure they get the right man as a replacement.....

Enters John Worsfold.....!!!

Bit rich from the bloke who can't have a discussion about gun control and add content without going into a lengthy, vitriolic rant abusing individuals who put up even a mild opposition to relaxed gun laws.

Ross Lyon back to The Saints,

Wed, 2019-07-24 08:52

Ross Lyon back to The Saints, leaving Freo in a similar position (maybe slightly better shape) to what he left The Saints. The irony.

It's like dating a whore, and getting upset when she is awarded the brass knee award down at the local footy club.

John Worsfold won’t come to Freo, if Lyon leaves, a new coach will come from one of three people, Longmuir, Kirk or Scarlett.

Fuck you are a crack up Jack...

You would've been good at the " I know you are you said you are so what am I" through your schooling I'd imagine.

If people don't have an educated opinion then they should use their ears or in this case their eyes rather than their mouth/fingers...

Please enlighten me as to where my opinion on gun control               ( controlling responsible licensed firearm owners )didn' add content.

I obviously pulled you up or disagreed with you for you to still have scars months/years later.

what else is reiwolt going to say, ross is the only coach he had any sort of success with. poor bastard was run into the ground to make ross look good.

can anyone else see the same thing happening to fyfe sandilands and co?

ross is old school and the new era of players need hugs and pats on the back or they get upset like neale and leave

Thu, 2019-07-25 09:05

Gilly - Bang on mate. A good chunk of young men in today's society need a loving hand rather than the tough love approach - and coaches need to reflect that.

I remember as a Jnr playing soccer and my old man was the coach - he would go twice as hard on me and his go to punishment for mucking around was tocuh your toes and he would literally deliver a swift kick to the ass. Probably get locked up for that these days.

Yeah you'd definitely find yourself before child protection these days and I wouldn't go telling people that story mate. Either that or change the story so that your dad was your ballet coach and gave you a swift one.

Lol. It looks like Lyon's incoherant dribble is rubbing off on the CEO.

"We do have a clear picture internally of what success looks like."

When pressed on what that meant, Rosich said he would be very surprised if people could not draw their own conclusions as to whether everything was on track.

I hope you like the twist I put on your zinger from earlier on in the year Dale:

 Because the public have lost

Fri, 2019-07-26 04:00

Because the public have lost confidence in Lyon ( half of that noise comes from West coast fans anyway ) should that be enough to see him go?

What exactly did people expect?

I had Freo somewhere from about 8-12 this year, slightly behind my team who I had between 6-12th...

It's one thing to pluck a number and say Freo should play finals but in reality who are they going to displace to do so?

Are they a better team this year than any of the teams above them? Nope I'd say they are not, do they have improvement and can they be yep I reckon they can.

Last year they finished in 14th behind this lot...

Rich

WC

Coll

Haw

Melb

Syd

GWS

Geel

Nth

Pt

ESS

Adel

Dogs

In reality there is only a couple of average teams above them so it's a tough comp and a hard ladder to climb.

If they finish the season off ok I don't see this year has been anything unexpected and really no reason to move Ross on but then I have no clue what things are like behind closed doors...

My two cents worth

Fri, 2019-07-26 07:59

If you're trading away your first and 2nd round picks to bring players in then surely you're making a tilt at a flag otherwise all you're doing is padding out your team to be mediocre instead of terrible (but developing youth) to retain memberships and sell home game tickets.

Hawthorn did it and did it well but they had the framework of players so that the imports were filling in key roles to remain in the premiership window.

 I don't see what Fremantle

Sat, 2019-07-27 11:10

I don't see what Fremantle have done trading wise as anything different to most clubs.

I think they have a history of bad trading but that's somewhat been rectified in recent years.

When you say a tilt at a flag that's vague...

Does that mean this year or within 5, every team surely trades to win games sell membership and hopefully have ultimate success along the way.

For me the risk of Freo going backwards and potentially getting worse is not worth the risk of taking another coach that could fail and set them back for years!

So you think Lyon is capable of coaching them to a flag?

Sat, 2019-07-27 16:16

Or getting them into the position to do so?

Just need a couple of players to get the structure right and execute Ross's game plan?

Meanwhile memberships drop, attendances drop etc etc...............

The issue at Freo is deeper

Sat, 2019-07-27 18:09

The issue at Freo is deeper than just the coach. It starts at management and flows down the line.. I thought Jeff Farmers summed up their attitude when he thought it was more important to beat the Eagles than win a premiership.
Will never get their hands on that trophy with that attitude.
