S Bend Beach Access

Spening the long weekend up at S bend this coming September, havent been since i was a kid and was wondering if anyone has been recently?

If memory serves me right the four wheel drive tracks to the beach from the Caravan park are super soft but easy going, but the beach is pretty rocky and nasty. Probably going to stick with poppers and slices for tailor. From what i remember regular rigs just got eaten up by the reef and rocks like at Lucy's beach.

I was there when i was 12 and im 27 now, so maybe its different now??

The real issue on the beach is sand covered deep weed

Can bottom out making extraction a real issue, mate lost his four runner and he was super experienced, one tiny mistake on a rising tide and that was it

Meant to add that dhuies are a real chance within casting range

thanks for that mate. Might stick to the hard paths and walk down the dunes. no points for being a hero...

Hoping for a casual fish for some herring/tailor but ill bring some bigger gear incase, a landbase Dhuie would be interesting. What are we talking, 80 metre cast + ??

There are a number of rock platforms heading south giving you access to water over five metres deep, we used large but lightly weighted occy tentacles, got two but had larger versions free swimming with the hooked fish .....got a couple of really nice trailor on same set up
