I keep hearing they're not the best eating fish, anyone wanna share their recipe? Caught my first salmon last season, wasn't the best eating on the BBQ. Bled it but still had plenty of blood in the meat, I must be doing something wrong.

Not the worst fish to eat
The smaller the better for filleting and cooking on BBQ, or cut into cullets BBQ with lemon pepper fresh only. Smoking is good for larger fish, or wrapped in alfoil stuffed with onion, lemon, garlic tomato etc, cook on moderate heat oven or BBQ. Or the why for bottleing was to make a brine place large sections into bottle pour over hot brine keep heated in oven for 1/2 hour or so, screw on lid and you have salmon for the rest of the year. Tastes better than can fish. especially since you can add what ever falvour you like. Always bleed well as soon as caught.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

The salmon have been steady
The salmon have been steady all year near Walpole, not schools but still caught very regularly. Not huge in size but good for a feed or even better stripbaited for a bronzie. Where there is salmon, a bronzie is lurking.
Let that reel scream!
