The Salmon are coming (Drone Shot)

 From the South Coast today.
Spoke to a few guys and they hadn't seen a fish so looks like they haven't started firing up yet.
This school was out of casting range.

Yes they are, I'm not a huge fan of the whole drone fishing idea, all about cast and retrieve for me but it makes locating the fish incredibly easy.
There was one shark on the school its out of the frame, maybe 3m.

Let's hope the Wankers with the net's stay well away and fisheries keep a watch out for the bastards wiping out whole schools of fish.

So you believe that they should be reserved for amateurs

Sun, 2018-03-04 10:17

No commercial fishing allowed at all?  Do you honestly believe, that given the hyper abundance of them in recent years, that the low level of netting which occurs nowadays is an issue ?

Very large flock of gulls etc working something out in Cockburn Sound yesterday morning, maybe salmon, maybe SBTs.

 My only arguement there

My only arguement there Ralph would be if they are being used for cat food i'd rather see even less of it...

I'd actually like to see cats culled to feed other cats....

nice school there. pity they were out of casting range.

As far as pro netting goes from what ive heard there isnt too many doing it now. yes they take large numbers but they are only trying to make a living like most others. if not for the pros i feel the numbers of salmon would be overwelming and wipe out schoolds of the bread and butter species so many go after like herring. needs to be done imo

There is no canning of salmon nowadays.

Sun, 2018-03-04 16:32

leastways not locally. Hasn't been a cannery for decades. The catch now actually tends to go for food fish, and is really quite small. Smaller, I'd venture, than the recreational catch by a long way.
