South coast salmon
Even if they ban salmon fishing in geographe bay
There is alwase the south coast .Windy harbour, marlamup beach, the mouth of the warren river .The fishing is as good and there is no lining up allong the beach
I didn't realise anybody would be as fussy to be spell checking on a fishing site
Cheers Uncle Stu

This time next year, commercial salmon fishermen could be hauling in their nets for the last time along Geographe Bay.
Several trucks are being loaded with fish while a row boat carrying a net waits on stand-by for the next school of salmon.
As the fish come into view, the crew is launching the boat into the waves, manually releasing the net in an arch around the catch and returning to shore where trucks on either end waiting to pull the load in.
Shane Miles is a third generation fisherman to take to the South West beaches in search of salmon.
He believes the fishery is one of the most sustainable in the world and still hasn't come to terms with the State Government's plans to ban them from the area by June next year.

Salmon most sustainable fishery in the world ?
I used to go to school with a Shane Miles from Dunsbourough, could be the same chap, banning fishing in Geo Bay will not make one iota of difference, they will ambush them around the corner From Cape Nat down.
Is Salmon fishing the most sustainable in the world,? well he may not be to far off the mark, i have not see a decline in numbers myself over the last 20 years, if yu want a feed of Salmon you have a good chance of getting one.
My complaint is the Pro fishermen dont make enough from it to justify it, better to leave them alone altogether i reckon for rec anglers, and Shane and the boys can make real money in the mines, probally a selfish opinion,,,at the end of the day theres enough to go around i guess, they are not an endangered species.

Goverment buys them out
I think the goverments brought a lot out Boofhead over the years,,so the lump sum will help and just do what they do for the rest of the year (whatever they do) theres very little money in Salmon.

Interesting read and spelling
That made interesting reading - will be looking into that.
Good tip Wal, the other way to spell check is have an MS Word session running and copy and type your proposed text in there first, correct, then copy and paste and imbed any desired emoticons. :)

crabs are a different story
When i was growing up in Busselton any year that the pros were allowed to catch crabs in Geo Bay you knew it was going to be a poor crabbing season of the jetty and beaches.
They would completey strip the bay of crabs, hopefully the ban is permanent.
Btw> be prepared for an influx of members here ,another forum is down for at least a week maybe longer ?
