its that time of year when the salmon arnt really aggresive and arent taking lures, everytime i see a few i cast lures and they just swim past it, but they will take a full mulie, so i was just wondering when the salmon arent feeding what is the best lure that i might have a chance of getting one? thanks

Zman 4-5inch Paddlerz. Or be
Zman 4-5inch Paddlerz.
Or be on the school at first light and you should be able to get a few on anything before they shut down. I'd almost say fly fishing for them this time of year is the best option without using bait.

Live bait
Live bait is awesome. They will come off the bottom for livies every time.

I've had success using Z Man
I've had success using Z Man Gras Kickerz (a 5 inch paddle tail) on 3/8 ounce jig heads. Favourite colour is "Opening night", which is a transparent bluish white with strips of silver glitter in the body.
I like to burley up using finely chopped, or ground pilchards, which often get them into feeding mode.

The rocks at dawesville cut
The rocks at dawesville cut is a great start and is really close to Mandurah. The only thing is waiting for the season to come around, but from some things that I have seen here on fw the salmon are still around just a matter of being in the right place at the right time
.
But around Easter time through to about August is the absolute best salmon fishing and they are also really hungry and aggressive. For this time of year I really love bunker bay just out of Dunsborough but I am sure that the Dawesville cut rocks will be just as productive and closer for you!
Fishing the swan for bream, it's just an obsession

Not hungry
Usually when they swim past a mulie or lure they are just not hungry, tide could be wrong, wrong time of the day, could be lots of things.
You have to persevere and hope you get there at the right time. After all , its called fishing not catching
Sometimes a live herring or yellowtail scad dropped in front of them works but don't hold your breath.
