Salmon in Perth

Hi all,

Went for a fish down Trigg Point yeaterday. There was a massive school of salmon hanging about, an a fella also told me he caught a few at Floreat drain also. I was there for a few hours an only managed to hook a couple an they didnt really seem to interested in my bait (mulie gang rig) . I was just givin a heads up that it seems the salmon have arrived, an also if anyone can give me some hints in bait it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Smiling jacks are only good if only short casts are required.

Rapala SXR14 are a much better casting minnow for Salmon IMO.

They are a peice of flashing metal....... it doesnt matter if it is gold or chrome lol. As Matt said, go with SXR10's and 12's. I did land some on an SXR14, which has lost its bib.

Forget the tango dancer..

Forget the tango dancer.. ;)

Take your light rod, catch a whiting, chuck it out live on your heavy rod, and catch a salmon.

By the time they get to perth they've probably had every lure under the sun thrown at them.
I have never seen a salmon not take a live bait, I've been catching them all year round SOR for two years now on live whiting, herring and mullet.

Whiting is a good bait in general, IMO.. alot of people have told me in the past it's not that great, but every time I catch one its straight on the hook,
